What is a Camera?

~A device for recording visual images in the form of photographs, movie film, or video signals.

Types of Cameras

~SLR=Single Lens Reflex ~DSLR=Digital Single Lens

Reflex ~P&S=Point and shoot

Gives the photographer the Freedom to take picture that most point and shoot cameras can't do.

~First photographic image was taken with a "Camera Obscura" (1814)-Shutter was open for eight hours and faded shortly afterwards-Was taken by Frenchman Joseph Nicephore Niepce

1843- The first advertisement using a photograph is made in Philadelphia

1859-The panoramic camera is patented in Sutton

1884-Flexible, paper based photographic film is invented by company "Eastman"

1913-1914-The first 35mm still camera is developed

1954-Eastman Kodak develops hi-speed tri-x film

1968-The first ever literally "out of this world"

1978-Konica invents the point and shoot autofocus camera
