Ingeteam Traction has developed andsupplied the turn-key electricalengineering for a new generation ofhigh-speed (260 km/h), dual voltage,variable gauge locomotives incollaboration with Talgo, includingthe design and manufacturing of thekey components of the locomotivesuch as traction converter, tractionmotors, auxiliary converter and vehiclecontrol unit.
This locomotive provides a mixedservice on both RENFE classic lines,with track width of 1.664 mm, andhigh speed lines, with UIC track widthof 1.435 mm.
The traction system of this dual voltagelocomotive (25 kVac 50 Hz, 3 kVdc)includes in-house design andmanufactured two traction converters,feeding each of them, wi thindependent inverters, two in-housemanufactured induction three-phasemotors. Our engineers have as wellspecified all other components of thetraction system providing thecustomer with a turn-key tractionsystem. The traction system has beendeveloped with a modular concept in
order to maximize its maintainabilityand availability, providing as wellregenerative braking, in order tominimize the Life Cycle Cost of itsoperation.
The Vehicle Control Unit of thelocomotive is based in Ingeteam'sSISTEAM OCS electronic, withdecentralised I/Os, with MVB andWTB communication buses accordingto IEC 61375-1 TCN standards.
The locomotive is equipped withsignalling equipments compatible withall RENFE classic and high speedlines, such as ERTMS, ASFA, LZBa n d E B I C A B , a s w e l l a scommunication systems as GSM-Rand train-land system.
Due to the technical relevance of thisproject, it was included in the PROFITresearch program of the Ministry ofScience and Technology.

5 Control electronics
Based on SISTEAM OCS (32 Bits), decentralised, redundantconfiguration and programmable in accordance with IECstandard.The PLC communicates via MVB, TBX III, RS-485, andEthernet.
