Newsletter No. 28 - Term 3 – Week 8 Thursday 4th
September 2014
From the Principal…………..
HAPPY FATHER’S DAY
TO ALL THE KALINDA DADS
LEVEL 3 CAMP With the weather report looking very gloomy our brave Level 3 staff, students and parents went off to the Phillip Island Adventure Camp. We are very lucky that the weather has been brilliant with bright sunny skies and no rain. Karen has just rung in and everyone is full of beans and ready to go for their first activities of the morning. They will be having a wonderful time on the Giant Swing, Flying Fox, Archery, Ropes Course and beach walks. They will all return very tired but full of adventures from the three days. The Adventurers will no doubt have a full report in next week’s newsletter, with plenty of photos to share.
FATHER’S DAY STALL Thank you so much to our lovely ladies from Parents & Friends for their work on the Father’s Day Stall on Monday. It certainly was buzzing when I was visiting, with children choosing lovely treats for their Dads. These events are what makes us all part of a community and it is great to see so many enthusiastic helpers.
JAPAN TRIP As the holidays are looming closer we have some very excited Level 4 children who will be leaving for Japan on Monday 13
th October, one week into next term. The trip will be over 12 days, during
which time the children will be spending four nights with host families from Lillyvale School near Tokyo. Twelve children from Kalinda and eight children from Warranwood Primary School, as well as Japanese teachers and Principals from both schools, and Cheryl Henry-Wild, an Integration Aide from Kalinda will be travelling to Japan. This is a wonderful opportunity for the children to use their Japanese language and learn more about Japanese culture, as well as discovering the similarities and unique differences between people around the world.
INDIA TRIP Richard Lambert, Dani Thomas and Russell Monaghan are all still in India staying at our sister school and are very excited to bring back their new knowledge to Kalinda. I will be on leave from tomorrow and will be returning to Kalinda on the first day of next term. Richard will be writing the newsletter next week and I’m sure you will be hearing lots about India. I wish everybody a very happy and safe holidays and I look forward to another exciting term at Kalinda as we head towards summer and warm weather! GAIL POLLARD PRINCIPAL

Program Update
Hello OSHClubbers, Goodbye to grades 3&4 and have a wonderful time at camp! We can expect a smaller group in OSHClub with camp on this week, however our program is running as usual with a theme of collaboration and self-expression from all children. Intuition and imagination will run a course this week in our planned activities and these involve writing letters to Her Royal Majesty the Queen We are also participating in AASC on Wednesdays and Thursdays so If your child is interested in Soccer and Squash, let us know your child wishes to attend so they are automatically selected on the day. Parents are invited to come into the program during our hours of operation, 7am-9am and 3pm-6pm to have a look at our program, talk to staff and see us in action.
