Spring is finally here! It’s getting warmer and Bluebonnets embellish our community.
At the Bulverde Spring Branch Activity Center we are wrapping up our Un’Wine’D with Us event which
was held last Saturday, March 24th. We had an amazing time and can’t wait for next year’s event! Turn
to the centerfold for some pictures from the event and visit our FaceBook page for additional photos.
Our 19th Annual Run for the Hills is only a few weeks away! Don’t forget to register for this popular
event that, this year, is held on Cinco De Mayo (May 5th). Visit our website at www.bsbac.com for more
information on this family friendly event! There will be food trucks, music, and raffle prizes—don’t miss
out! As always, we are looking for volunteers to help make this another successful event!
Did you remember to donate during South Texas’ Big Give event on March 22nd? If you were unable to
give that day, please consider donating to our center through Birdies for Charity (see details on the last
page).
Last, but definitely not least, we would like to Thank our Members and Community Partners - your
ongoing support helps enhance the quality of life for seniors in Western Comal County.

Monthly Tip (cdc.gov): Oral Health
The baby boomer generation is the first where the majority of people will keep their natural teeth over their
entire lifetime. This is largely because of the benefits of water fluoridation and fluoride toothpaste. However,
threats to oral health, including tooth loss, continue throughout life. Here are some ways you can maintain a
healthy mouth and strong teeth:
Drink fluoridated water and brush with fluoride toothpaste.
Practice good oral hygiene. Brush teeth thoroughly and floss between the teeth to remove dental plaque.
Visit your dentist on a regular basis, even if you have no natural teeth or have dentures.
Do not use any tobacco products and limit alcoholic drinks.
If you have diabetes, work to maintain control of the disease. This will decrease risk for other complica-
tions, including gum disease.

Volunteer Opportunities
Would you like to give back to your
community?
We are always looking for volunteers to
help with events and activities in the
center, as well as prepare and/or deliver
nutritious meals to homebound seniors.
If you are interested in the various vol-
unteer opportunities we offer, please
reach out to Andrea Jenkins at (830) 438-
3111, or email at ajenkins@bsbac.com.
Volunteer Spotlight
Joan Gilbert has volunteered at our
center for over 6 years! She is an avid
supporter of the Pets On Wheels pro-
gram and is one of our cherished
Meals On Wheels volunteers.
Joan enjoys working with people
which led her to many careers including being a
registered nurse and most recently, volunteering
her time to the Hospice program at Christus Spohn
Hospital. Joan likes to read and to care for her
dogs. She and her husband also love to travel and
most recently went to Egypt.
Thank you Joan, for all that you do for our
community and our Bulverde Spring Branch
Activity Center!
Member Spotlight
Connie Gallovich became a member at
the center in 2013. Her favorite class
is Zumba which she attends twice a
week. She also likes to participate in
Chair Fitness and is a regular at the
Bunco table.
In addition to enjoying exercise classes, card
games, and day trips at the center (she recently
went with a BSBAC group to New Braunfels), she
volunteers her time at the front desk. Connie has
made plenty of new friends at the activity center
and often has lunch with other “Zumba ladies”.
When not at the center, you can find her working
in her yard, or out and about, spending time with
friends and family.
Connie, we are very fortunate that you decided
to join us 5 years ago, and appreciate all you do
for our Activity Center!
