Hair + Makeup Product Recommendation Preschool

Makeup Theatre lighting is very powerful and can make performers look pale and washed out on stage, and their beautiful features can often be lost. Very basic makeup is highly recommended so we can see your little dancer’s features on stage and also on the DVD. We understand however, that some parents may be adverse to makeup and for this reason, it is not compulsory. Below are a few brand recommendations for very well-priced makeup, listed from lowest to highest, as well as where to source these brands. Please note these are only recommendations should you not have products at home already.

• Essence - Priceline • Savvy - Priceline • Australis – Priceline, Kmart, Big W, Target etc • Maybelline - Priceline, Kmart, Big W, Target etc • Models Prefer - Priceline • Covergirl - Priceline, Kmart, Big W, Target etc. • Face of Australia – Priceline • Almay (great for sensitive skin) – Priceline • Innoxia (great for sensitive skin) – Priceline • L’Oreal - Priceline, Kmart, Big W, Target etc. • Revlon - Priceline, Kmart, Big W, Target etc.

Powder Foundation Powder Foundation is recommended for Preschoolers. This should be 1-2 shades darker than their natural skin tone. Avoid bronzers or anything that looks too orange. This should be matte (no shimmer). Pressed Powder Foundation is recommended as it is mess free and usually comes with a sponge or powder puff for easy application.

Blush Blush is recommended for all students, as stage lights wash out the face and definition of cheek bones, which is one of the most important when it comes to framing the face on stage. Blush should be matte (no glitter or shimmer) and in a soft pink, dusty rose colour. Colour examples:

Eyebrow Pencil Eyebrows frame the face, and under the strong stage lights the fine hairs on pre-schoolers can easily look invisible. We highly recommend filling in the brows to redefine them for the performance.

Mascara Pale eyelashes can also get washed out on stage. Mascara is an easy way to add definition to the eyes and make them stand out on stage. Under no circumstances should mascara be shared, so please make sure your child has their own mascara.

Lipstick The lips and mouth are another important feature of the face, so a little lipstick redefines the area so it can be seen under stage lights. For Preschoolers, a pinky-brown lipstick is recommended as it is subtle and more age-appropriate than red.

Other We recommend having the following other cosmetics/toiletries in your makeup bag:

• Makeup Remover/Wipes • Cotton buds • Tissues
