TRANSCRIPT

Hadith Threeالمسلم مرأة المسلمم

A Muslim is a mirror of the Muslim

Why did the Prophet say a Muslim is like a ‘mirror’?Mirror shows a reflection. Shows a reflection of things he

cannot see.Same way a Muslim advices

another Muslim of about things which are not visible to him.

He gives him naseeha

Characteristics of a mirrorMirror has one to one connection with a

person. After they leave they don’t keep the image for everyone to see. Same a Muslim brother …

A mirror gives a true image. It does not lie or backbite about the person that looked in the mirror.

It gives a fair and just statement about the person.

The person goes to the mirror, the mirror does not go looking for the person.

A true Muslim who corrects his Muslim brother.

However, there is a certain way to correct according to the teaching of the prophet.

How to correct people according to the Prophetic Sunnah?Prophet was also corrected by

Allah.Prophet corrected the

companionsPart of human nature

Before correcting a mistake think…Different mistakes should be

dealt with differently. The position of the person

correcting the mistake.Differentiating a person who

made a mistake without knowledge and a person with knowledge.

When correcting a mistakeHave sincerityNever in front of other peopleHe does not disgrace him or mock at

him rather tell him nicely. Not in a harsh manner (depending on

mistake)Give examples while correcting mistake.Make dua for the person end of mistake.Person being corrected should not take

in offensive but instead be grateful.

True BrotherhoodAbu Hurayra reported that the

Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "A believer is the mirror of his brother. A believer is the brother of another believer. He protects him against loss and defends him behind his back."
