Get the children to explore Dinosaur Cove just like Jamie and Tom with a fun fossil treasure hunt game. (You could even make card fossil finders if you have time!) • Theaimofthetreasurehuntistofindclues

whichhelpleadthechildrentothetreasure.Anadultgivesthechildrenthefirstclue,whichleadsthechildrentoalocation,whichhasaclueleadingtoanotherlocation,andsoonuntiltheyreachthetreasure.

• Thetreasurehuntcouldtakeplaceinside,outside,orboth,dependingonthelocationandtimeofyear.

• Printoutthefossilimageprovidedonthenextpage,andwriteyourcluesontheback.Itworkswellifthecluesrhyme,e.g.‘Wherecouldyourfirstcluebe?Lookbythetree.’

AddaDinosaurCovetwisttoclassicpasstheparcel.Wraptheparcelwithdinosaurwrappingpaperandusedinosaur-themedprizeswithinyourlayers,suchasdinosaur-shapedsweetsandsmalltoys.

For example, if the player at the front says: ‘Jamie says…flap your wings like a pterodactyl’ then the rest of the players should follow the instruction. Any player who doesn’t follow the instruction is out of the game.

If the player at the front only says: ‘flap your wings like a pterodactyl’ then the rest of the players should NOT follow the instruction. Any player who does follow the instruction is out of the game.

•Onceyouhavedividedthemixtureintobiscuitsizedpiecesandflattenedthemreadyfortheoven,pressplasticinsectshapesintothedough,thenremovethemtoleaveinsectimpressions.•Chillinthefridgefor

30minutesbeforebaking.

You will need: •100gplainchocolate •50gmargarine

•2tablespoonsgoldensyrup •150gplaindigestivebiscuits

To make the dinosaur poo:

•Putthebiscuitsinalargefreezerbagandtiethebagshut.Usingarollingpin,bashthebiscuitsintocrumbs.•Breakupthechocolateintopiecesandputtheminasaucepan.Heatthepanonalowtemperatureuntilthechocolatehasmelted.•Stirthemargarineandsyrupintothemeltedchocolate.•Takethesaucepanofftheheat.Pourthebiscuitcrumbsintothechocolatemixtureandstirtogether.•Scoopuphandfulsofthemixtureandshape

themtolooklikedroppings.Placethemonabakingtrayandchillforanhour

inthefridge.

•Makeasandwichofyourchoice.•Cutinhalfdiagonally,usingazigzagcutting
