WHY GREEN BUILDINGS?

Buildings impact people's lives and the health of the planet. ENERGY:

► In the United States buildings account for about 70% of all electricity► In the United States, buildings account for about 70% of all electricity usage, and 37% of all energy consumption. *

ECOSYSTEMS: ► Construction affects both movement and absorption of storm water.

NATURAL RESOURCES:► Buildings use resources directly and indirectly.

THESE BUILDINGS:

• Contain local and regional materials to save transportation fuel.

• Include energy efficient walls & roofs, and windows that control heat gain.

• Contain energy monitoring systems.
