GrantsGov Overview• Grants.gov is a source to find and apply Federal Grants
• Established as a governmental resource as part of Presidents’ 2002 Fiscal Year Management Agenda
• Main idea is to create a one stop shop for applicants to search and apply for federal grants published by all federal agencies (HHS, DOD, DOE…)
• Department of Health and Human Services is the managing partner for this program
• Grants.gov doesn’t provide personal financial assistance
What is a GRANT? A federal grant is an award of financial assistance from a federal agency to a recipient to carry out a public purpose of support or stimulation authorized by a law of the United States. Federal grants are not federal assistance or loans to individuals.
Currently 26 Federal Agencies offer over 1,00 grant programs annually in various categories like Agriculture, Health, Arts, Housing, Energy.
Eligible applicants include and not limited to Education Organizations, State Governments, Local governments, Non-Profit Organizations, For-Profit Organizations, Small Business and Individuals.
