GRADUATION PROJECT- All Obama Academy Seniors are required to submit:

- A PASSING EXTENDED ESSAY - 150 DOCUMENTED CREATIVITY / ACTION / SERVICE HOURS

SUPPORT FOR YOUR EXTENDED ESSAY!- The Extended Essay was introduced in the Junior Year. - This year a period long research / Extended Essay support period has been added to your student’s schedule. - Starting in October, college students will be available during QRT and after school to assist with the EE’s.

- Mr. Ehman is available for help before school, during QRT, and after school almost EVERY DAY!- Failure / not turning in an essay is NOT AN OPTION!!!! You have more than enough support available for this project…. Failure to complete a passing EE is YOUR FAULT!!! Parents please speak / harass / cajole / your student every day about their Extended Essay!

IB TESTING IS EXPENSIVE!$145 Registration Fee$100 Per Course Fee (x6)$745 TOTAL FOR YOUR IB DIPLOMA

This document shows the credits available from Pitt for IB tests at the Higher Level (HL).

Scores in the HL classes must be 5 or above.

You take 3 courses at the Higher Level:- 3 credits are given for English- 3 credits are given for History- 3 credits are given for your Elective- 3 credits are given for your Language B

So you can get 9 credits at Pitt (and most other schools) for your IB Diploma!

With just 9 IB Credits at Pitt you would save $5,724!

SUMMATION OF BENEFITS FOR YOUR IB DIPLOMA:- Elite schools look at DIPLOMA CANDIDATES in a

better light than NON DIPLOMA CANDIDATES. (Schools can and do call to see if a student has paid for their IB Diploma).

- Some schools offer Sophomore Status to students that complete an IB Diploma.- Schools that do not offer Sophomore Status do

accept IB HL Credits with scores of 5 or higher for the most part.- Sitting for the Diploma is a great challenge!

-In order to earn the IB Diploma you must take 3 courses at HL (Higher Level) and 3 courses at SL (Standard Level)

The following are reasons an IB Diploma WOULD NOT BE AWARDED:- Points are less than 24- TOK Paper is Failed- The Extended Essay is Failed- Complete CAS Hours have not been submitted- A score of 1 is awarded in ANY subject level- A score of 3 has been awarded four or more times- A score of 2 has been given for a higher level course- Candidate has earned fewer than 12 points in the Higher Level courses- Candidate has earned fewer than 9 points in the Standard Level courses- Score of 2 at Higher Level awarded 2 or more times- Score of 2 at Standard Level awarded three times- Score of less than 11 has been scored on Higher Level subjects- Score of less than 8 has been scored on Standard Level subjects
