Summary

To prepare children for their future as responsibly behaving adults, good schools have to contribute

towards developing intercultural awareness through promoting a better understanding of

children’s own and of different ways of life and cultures. (Focus: European Juniors) Good schools have to improve social skills to enable children to

cooperate in different social relationships by respecting other peoples’ rights and tolerating differences. (Focus Social Education) Good

schools have to develop children’s responsibility for their environment. (Focus: project learning

about environment)

Primary school children work in first-hand learning situations by acting, playing and having concrete experiences. The settings have to be simple and authentic. In this project children will acquire and

improve knowledge and understanding in the areas of- cultural expression, evidenced through letters, wall displays, videotapes, paintings and digital films of songs and dances - social and civic responsibilities evidenced through reports,

staff group discussion, games and drama- awareness and responsibility concerning their environment

evidenced through project learning including observation and investigation as an approach to develop knowledge, competency

and receptivity.

Within this project parents will be motivated to cooperate responsibly with the children and the staff.

Visit to Burg Vischering in Lüdinghausen

„Plastic creme“ in the coffee shop

Lüdinghausen - the town on the river Stever consisting of the parishes of Lüdinghausen and Seppenrade invites the visitor to take a rest. The charming town centre with its interesting gable's, picturesque half-timbered houses, varied shops and attractive pedestrian precincts is a starting point for excursions to the local sights and to the attractive countryside. Lüdinghausen and Seppenrade, the "rose village", are an ideal destination for a weekend family outing: You can rent bicycles at the ADAC bicycle station next to the “Bauhaus” (building lodge) at Burg Lüdinghausen and obtain information on the town as well as suggestions for bicycle tours. You can have a family picnic here, in the castle area, but also at the former village schools of Berenbrock and Emkum. Barbecue sites are available. Sights and excursions:

Burg Vischering (13th century) - housing a cultural centre of the county ▫ Burg Lüdinghausen with the chapter-house (16th century) ▫ Moated castle of Kakesbeck, at present undergoing renovation ▫ Parish church St. Felicity (16th century) ▫ Hakehaus (17th century) ▫ Indoor swimming-pool with 82-meter chute ▫ Westfalenring (grass race course) ▫ Seppenrade rose garden ▫ Wolves' glen (Wolfsschlucht) ▫ The biggest ammonite worldwide, in Seppenrade.
