What is Global Warming?

How Global Warming Works

Fossil fuels (coal, oil, natural gas)

Carbon Dioxide (CO2)

The severity of Global Warming

on the EarthGlobal warming has very severe effects on the Earth like• Ice is melting worldwide,

especially at the Earth’s poles. This includes mountain glaciers, ice sheets covering West Antarctica and Greenland, and Arctic sea ice.

• Researcher Bill Fraser has tracked the decline of the Adélie penguins on Antarctica, where their numbers have fallen from 32,000 breeding pairs to 11,000 in 30 years.

• Sea level rise became faster over the last century.

• Some butterflies, foxes, and alpine plants have moved farther north or to higher, cooler areas.

• Precipitation (rain and snowfall) has increased across the globe, on average.

nOur Goal

The Planet is in serious trouble

What can you do to help solve the problem?

What should we do…

Nothing EverythingSomething

What’s being done now to reduce our emissions?

Solar Power Wind Power Fuel-Efficiency

Simple Things You Can Do

Turn off your computer or the TV when you’re not using it.

Take shorter showers. Heating water uses energy.

Keep rooms cool by closing the blinds, shades,

or curtains.

Turn off the lights when you leave a room.

Use compact fluorescent bulbs.

Simple Things You Can Do

Dress lightly when it’s hot instead of turning up the air conditioning. Or use a fan.

Dress warmly when it’s cold instead of

Turning up the heat.

Offer to help your parents keep the air

filters on your AC and furnace clean.

Walk short distances instead of asking for a ride in the car.

Plant a tree. Recycle.

Despair?You may never know what

results come of your action,

but if you do nothing,

there will be no result.
