Darragh Morgan plays an 1848 Giuseppe Rocca violin, generouslyon loan from The Morgan-RoccaInstrument Trust which is administeredby The Royal Society of Musicians. It is one of a small number of instruments loaned to exceptional string players through the Society’s Fine Instrument Scheme.

Britain’s oldest musical charity, The Royal Society of Musicians has been helping musicians in need since its establishment by Handel, Thomas Arne and their friends in 1738. The Society is still run by musicians for musicians and its Members are all professional musicians. Thanks to donations and legacies over nearly 300 years, around £500,000 is distributed each year to musicians who are unable to work due to illness or accident. The Society continues to welcome donations or legacies, as well as loans or bequests of instruments.
