ICRC GIS Services

• Production of maps (Paper, Geoportal, Dynamic web maps, ... )

• Advise units on how to collect field data (Mobile devices, Sharepoint lists, ...)

• Advise units on how to put their data on maps (data structure, Formats, templates,...)

• Maintain the ICRC Geo-Referential Data GIS support to autorities (Water, Detention, ...)

Products: Traditional paper maps

Products: ICRC Geoportal Built by arxiT on ArcGIS in 2011

Current GIS trends in ICRC :

• Geoportal is the mothership, the ‘One stop shop’

• Need for dedicated simple thematic web portals

• Less ‘map-centric’ approach

• Need for drill down capacity (data exploration)

• Need to mix of Text, Charts and Maps

• Mobility and Mobile data

• Paper maps will remain the best for the field emergencies
