Mission

The American Red Cross is a humanitarian organization led by volunteers and guided by

its Congressional Charter and the Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross Movement. It provides relief to

victims of disaster and helps people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies.

Disaster Relief

The Triangle Area Chapter of the American Red

Cross helped more than 357 families recover from

local disasters in 2010.

Hurricane Earl – ERV Deployment (August 2010)

High Point Tornado (March 2010)

We provided more than 10,836 nights of shelter locally to those whose homes or apartments

were made unlivable due to fires in 2010.

Education ProgramsEveryone who needs life-saving skills.

Training & Preparedness Programs

Every year, nearly 60,000Triangle residents gain the

skills to respond to life threatening emergencies

such as heart attacks.

Readiness Exercise – RDU (March 2010)

Blood ServicesEvery time someone needs life saving blood.

The local Red Cross chapter provides most of the blood

supply for our area.

We recruited more than 45,000 blood donors last year to provide life saving blood

for area hospitals.

Service to MilitaryEvery service member in need.

Each year the Red Cross assists nearly 3,000

Triangle military families financially and

emotionally.

Veteran’s Day Parade (November 2010)

Local military families turned to us more than 1,200 times

last year for support.

We provide emergency communication, financial

assistance, and counseling services for military families.

International Disaster ReliefEvery international disaster.
