At CHC…Our lecturers use Moodle for almost all

units to give students access toresources and Moodle is part of anongoing stream of activity designed toenhance student learning experiences atCHC.

The CHC Moodle learning environmentis fast, flexible and adaptable. Designedfor the ways that today's students learn,Moodle provides a simple, clear view ofall learning activities and resources for aunit. Assessment information andassignment submission are all containedwithin Moodle.

Moodle Access…

You will be sent an email to your student (CHC) email account(s4…..@mail.chc.edu.au)

Will contain username, temporary password and the units thatyou are enrolled in

Access the Moodle site viaStudent Portal on the CHCwebsite or atwww.chc.moodle.com.au

How to login to Moodle?Click on Log in. This can be found on the top right of the screen.

You will be taken to this screenUsers need to then enter their username and password. First timeusers – enter the password that is sent to your CHC email address,you will then be asked to change your password. Once it ischanged, use your new password.

For students your username is yourstudent number: s411111For staff your username is your firstname.lastname

Once you havelogged in, it willlook like this.Then you canclick on yourschool to accessyour units.

How to access your unit…3 easy ways to access your units:

1. Click on yourschool link, thenselect the unityou are enrolledin.

2. Click on ‘MyCourses’ undernavigation

3. Enter the unit code orname into ‘Course finder’(bottom left)

Scroll down to view course materialand other items. Moodle courses aregenerally week by week or topic bytopic and may be in grid format orscroll format.

Updating Your Profile

Click on your name in the top right hand corner of page(where you have logged in), then click on profile.

Forums…All units have forums. They are a place for discussion where students and

lecturers can share text-based conversations that can be added to over time.You can ask questions, discuss unit content and assessment requirements oranything that pertains to the unit.

In a forum there are two places that a student can post to that facilitate theflow of the conversation; these are the discussions and the posts

When you click on a forumlink such as below…

The discussion board will openand all of the discussions thatare happening in that forumwill be listed.

You are able to add a newdiscussion topic or reply toa current discussion

In order to view the postsfor a particular discussion,the discussion must beopened. This is done byclicking on the name of thediscussion on the left-handside of the discussion board

Click on the link to‘Forgot Password’,follow the promptsand you will need tocheck your CHCemail account.

E.g.: Moodle5*Your password must contain:

at least 8 characters

a Capital letter

a numerical character (1, 2, 3, 4…)

a non-alpha numerical character (* & ^ % $)

Not linked to your units?Help – I am studying a unit and I can’t find it on Moodle,

what do I do?• Firstly contact your school admin i.e. Business, Soc Sci, Education, Ministries, or The

Millis Institute.

• Secondly if you are unable to get a hold of your school admin, then try StudentAdministration – they will check that you are enrolled in the unit and then make surethat you have access to the unit page.

• Lastly, if all else fails, contact moodle@chc.edu.au and together we will be able to sort itout as fast as possible.☺

Moodle requests an enrolment key?

This means that you are not enrolled in the unit. At no stage do yourequire an enrolment key in order to access your unit page.

This just means that you will need to be enrolled in this unit. Followthe previous steps to receive access to your unit.

Submitting assessment

All schools now use Turnitin. Many assessments have to besubmitted online through Moodle.

Turnitin is a plugin to Moodle and how students submitassessments.

Turnitin also includes Originality Check – Checks papers against24 Billion + web pages, 250 + million student papers andpublications. Checks for Plagiarism. Helps with the writingprocess and provides feedback.
