Children have a hard time: Waiting, sharing, knowing how long something will take, talking about emotions, buttoning, following directions, going to sleep, waking up, etc. They get hungry, and tire easily.

Prevention is the BEST intervention! Positive Parenting is all about being proactive!

Knowing It Takes 25 YEARS to fully develop Social Skills Helps you PREDICT and PLAN

I won’t eat! WHY? I don’t know what this IS!!!!

Make Your “Expectations” Clear

• Tell your child what to do instead of what not to do. 3 more swings and we will leave. 2 more bites, 5 more mintues, etc.

• Clearly and simply state what you expect your child to do.

• Have age-appropriate expectations.• Use age-appropriate language. Young children

have difficulty with contractions (two words that are combined to form one, such as “don’t” and “can’t”).
