DISABILITY CYCLING: Why so expensive? Why such narrow choice? Why such poor information?

Change is on the way.

We’re a community interest company offering new ways for schools and community groups to enjoy disability cycling.

Get Cycling CiC are different in many ways • Choice of not a handful of expensive

cycles from one manufacturer, but 170 cycles from 30 manufacturers, with at least 50 of them in our demo fleet.

• Many high-value bikes sold new at two thirds the price of equivalents on the market (same quality, often better).

• Many cycles refurbished in our own workshops, and sold at considerably less than new prices.

Part-exchange encouraged. We need bikes to refurbish! Bespoke specification. We’ll bust a gut to source your bikes, new or refurbished, no matter how tight the budget. Ongoing advice, support and servicing. Practical help with fund-raising. Disability try-out events.

Many of our used bikes are as good as new, having been in careful private hands. We recycle for everyone.

A snapshot of some current offers on refurbished cycles: COPILOT steer-from-rear tandem trike at £1500. Retail when new: £5000. A full spec rear-steer TOMCAT TRIKE at £550. Retail new: £1600. Side by side COMPANION CYCLE for £3000. Retail new: £7500 DRAISIN DUO tandem trike for £1950. Retail new: £6000 DRAISIN TRICI for £800. Retail new: £2650 WHEELCHAIR TANDEMS (Duet and others) at £2000. Retail new: £5000 Various HANDCYCLES at £500 to £1200, all at half of retail prices. WRK QUADRICYCLE at £650. Retail when new: £1800

Comprehensive accessories and adaptations with our unique quick-fit pedal systems allowing easy swaps from bike to bike.

We are happy to consider a try-out event for your

school community. These are usually chargeable.

We have also run large-scale regional disability

cycling festivals.

Many clients prefer to come to our try-out

centre in York.

Get Cycling was founded by Jim and Sally McGurn (ex-teacher, ex-health visitor). They share their passion for cycling with their son, Joe, who has Downs and autism. It’s a multi-faceted social enterprise, with cycles refurbished through our ex- offenders support programme (supervised by our qualified mechanics). We are the appointed advisers and suppliers to the Family Fund Charity.

We’re a national organisation, with 16 expert staff and enormous experience. We publishes books and magazines

on cycling and cycle design. We know our stuff.

“Every year the cycling day is an absolute highlight! Every student, whatever their ability or disability was able to join in and have an amazing time. The staff were absolute professionals and we have nothing but admiration for their patience. We are already looking forward to next year. Thank you, thank you, thank you!” Greenvale Special School Lewisham “In all the years I have been at the school I don’t think we have ever had an event that has been enjoyed and appreciated as much by everyone – pupils, teachers and parents alike! It was lively, fun and very professionally delivered, both inside during the presentation and outside on the bikes. We have pupils with many diverse needs but somehow that just wasn’t a problem. Well done to you all and thank you once again.” Sue Payne, Alderman Knights Special School, Tewkesbury
