Your Task

Your task is to plan a three day trip in

Georgia using resources

available on the internet, in

magazines, brochures and

books.

What should be included in my project?

• Title Page• Introduction• Description of Vehicle• Budget Information• Packing List• Map

• Journal• Pictures of places

visited• Conclusion• Bibliography• Class Presentation

Step One – Title Page

Create a title page with the following information on it:

• Title of your road trip

• Your name

• Class Period

• Date

Step Two – Introduction

Write a brief introduction including the following:

• Briefly introduce yourself

• Briefly describe where you plan to travel and why

• Time of year you plan to travel

Step Three- Packing list

• Describe weather conditions for destination

• Include clothes and other necessities

• Make sure your list is reasonable considering the amount of space in your rental car and the weather conditions

Step Four- Outline Chart

• Do some research

• Select your places to visit, hotels, and where you might want to have breakfast, lunch and dinner

• Fill in your Outline Chart

• Changes can be made to this chart as you work on your project

Step Five- Select Your Map

• Select the map you want to use for your project

• Indicate beginning and ending points for Day One, Day Two and Day Three on your map

• Clearly mark the two places you visited on Day One, Day Two and Day Three

Step Six – Transportation

You must select a rental vehicle for your trip around Georgia. Include the following information about your vehicle in your project:

• A picture of your vehicle

• Type of Vehicle

• Rental cost for 3 days

• Gallons of gas tank holds

• Gas mileage

Step Seven - Budget

Give a detailed budget report of all money spent

• Clearly organize by category all money spent on your trip

• Provide totals on each category

Step Eight- Day 1 JournalInclude the following in your journal:

• At least one page per day• Starting and ending points stated• Include number of miles traveled that day• Include routes taken• Where you lodged• Where you ate• What you ate• Description of places you visited

Step Nine- Day 2 JournalInclude the following in your journal:

• At least one page per day• Starting and ending points stated• Include number of miles traveled that day• Include routes taken• Where you lodged• Where you ate• What you ate• Description of places you visited

Step Ten- Day 3 JournalInclude the following in your journal:

• At least one page per day• Starting and ending points stated• Include number of miles traveled that day• Include routes taken• Where you lodged• Where you ate• What you ate• Description of places you visited

Step 11 - Complete Map

• Make sure your map shows all needed information

• Beginning and ending points for Day One and Day Two and Three

• Places visited clearly marked

• Map shows all routes taken

Step 12 - Total your budget Chart

• Be sure you have filled in your budget chart completely

• Total all columns

• Make sure the math is correct

Step 13 - Pictures

• Create a collage of pictures from the places you have visited, hotels and restaurants

• You may have one collage for both days or create a separate collage for each day

Step 14- Conclusion

• Make closing comments about your trip

• Summary of what you saw, where you went

• Summary of what you learned

Step 15- Source Page

• Bibliography of sources

Rules of the Road

• You do not have to start in your home city.

• You can start your trip anywhere in the state of Georgia.

• You must visit at least two different places each day

• You must return to where you started but by a different route

• Gas costs $2.50 a gallon for your trip.

• Keep track of your mileage and do not forget to put gas in your vehicle

• You must make it to your destination and back in 2 days

• You must eat three meals a day

• You have an unlimited budget but you must keep track of all of your expenditures

• You may travel with a friend but each student must complete his/her own project to turn in

• Lodging costs may differ but you must stay in a hotel/motel/bed and breakfast- no camping, sleeping in the car or staying with friends or family

• YES! You are old enough to drive for this project but no, you cannot drink, gamble, or participate in or initiate any illegal activities
