The Geometry Guy Show

GeometryGuy

With your Host

In addition to the Geometry Guy Show, Don has taught a number of college math courses:

▪ College Algebra ▪ Linear Analysis ▪ Quantitative Math ▪ Calculus I, II

▪ Developmental Math (algebra & trigonometry) ▪ Computers in Science

The Geometry Guy Show is a hands-on math course for kids featuring fun and exciting uses for math in everyday life, science, art, business, sports and other interesting areas. Geometry Guy has many years of experience showing kids that math concepts and principles are really easier to understand than they generally think.

This is a highly interactive show with many thought-provoking applications of math. Come join the fun!

The Geometry Guy Math Education Show features hands-on math demonstrations along with math jokes, rhymes, riddles, puzzles & stories. So much fun, so little time.

“What’s your angle?” asked the circle of the triangle.

A trip around the Circle is sure to please. Each time around any good old circle is three hundred and sixty degrees: 360°

The Square is a very useful shape,Having four sides of equal measure. With each angle like the other three, The square truly is a treasure.

“Give me Five.” said the Pentagon.

Five sides and five angles will do.

One for the bottom, two for the sides and two for the top:

Thank you.

The Isosceles Triangle has a funny name.It has three sides like other triangles,But now, Two sides are the same.

The Equilateral Triangle, has all three sides the same.Since each angle, is like the other two,Equi-angular is also its name.

Isosceles

A triangle with three sides of different length, is really rather keen, It’s not Equilateral or Isosceles,But instead it’s called Scalene.

Right Triangle

The Right Triangle is a special one,Of great importance, near and far.The Right Angle, is opposite the Hypotenuse and called Perpendicular.Mighty is geometry; joined with art,

resistless.

− Euripides. 480? - 406 BC

The Triangle expert was sometimes acute, and occasionally obtuse, but always right when it came to having fun with triangles. You can too.

To add fun and excitement to math education, Geometry Guy has created the GeomeTroids “The Friendly GeomeToys.” From simple geometry, the GeomeTroids come to life:

Geometry Guy has turned the GeomeTroids “The Friendly GeomeToys” into clay, including three new geometric characters and the symbol Pi:

The Geometry Kids are another fun addition to the Geometry Guy Math Education Show.

The Geometry Kids are the basic geometric shapes in moldable clay.

For those geometers with a “sweet tooth” Geometry Guy has created Silly Shapes lollipops.

Silly Shapes “Geometry Pops” Lollipops

Eight different shapes with silly faces.

As one mother said: “My daughter has a pretty firm grasp on what a circle, triangle, square, rectangle and oval look like. However, when she gets into more diverse shapes such as hexagons and octagons…well, she starts to have some trouble with them.

Thanks to Silly Shapes Lollipops, she’s now learning shapes and enjoying them: Yum! Yum!Who knew Math could be Fun and Delicious?!!

Geometry Guy also gives workshops on building Geometry Toys from simple materials.
