WELCOME PARENTS!

About me• 10th year teaching – all at PFHS• Undergrad degree in electrical engineering from the University

of Dayton• Masters in Education from Marymount University in Arlington• Married with 2 daughters, ages 15 and 12• Live in Winchester, VA (dictates availability before/after school)• 3 years as a process engineer at a steel company• 20 years in Navy

– Served on submarines, at Naval Nuclear Power School as a Chemistry, Materials, and Radiological Fundamentals instructor, at US Strategic Command in Omaha, NE, and at the Pentagon

– retired as Lieutenant Commander in May 2002• Sponsor Mu Alpha Theta (Math National

Honor Society, Asian Student Association,and Jazz Club

• First Semester– Basics– Logic– Parallel lines– Triangles congruence– Triangle similarity– Start right triangles

• Second Semester– Finish right triangles and trigonometry– Quadrilaterals– Polygons– Circles– Transformations– 3 dimensional figures– Constructions

General information• Help opportunities

– I am available almost every morning before school (exceptions for faculty and various club meetings)

– Flex blocks– Math Lab: Tues 7:45 – 8:45 and Thurs 4:00 – 5:00– Homework Club: after school Mon, Wed, and Thurs 4:00 – 5:00

• Calendar – Geometry information in blue– Documents posted as needed– HW on day assigned– Quizzes, tests, projects, problem sets on day due

• Grading– Total points– Tests and quizzes weighted with point values– HW late, problem sets not late– Make up missed tests/quizzes within 1 week of return to school (exceptions possible

for good reasons)• Tissues

– Send a box to share for heavy cold, flu, and allergy seasons• Contact me

ExpectationsI expect the students to…

• Be in class on time• Bring necessary materials to class (pencil,

paper, calculator, assignments, etc)• Complete all assignments and assessments in a
