Biosphere> The life sphere which is composed of plants and

animals.

Geography> Concerned with the study of the

surface of the earth and its relation to the activities of man.

> The term geography is derived from the Greek word “GEOGRAPHY” which

may be translated as “earth description”.

Other definition of GEOGRAPHY> Webster defines “Geography” as the

science of the earth and it’s life especially the description of land, sea and air, and the distribution of plants

relation of these diverse elements.

In some texbooks GEOGRAPHY is simply

captioned as“LAND AND PEOPLE”

production such as roads, railways, irrigation systems

Natural resources> The foundation of our wealth and

this field of Geography is essentially a study of the influence and the use of these resources for

social economics and political development.

Economics development> Refers to an efficient use of the

resources in order to bring about a higher and rising per capital real income that is widely diffused to

the mass of the population.

> Intimately linked with the proper use of the natural resources that will sustain the growth of the economy.

> In simple language economic development means better food, better clothing, better shelter more opportunities for improvement and higher standard of living for the inhabitants.
