Presentation illustrating climate change impacts on women and men lives in Central Asia

TRANSCRIPT

In mountainous areas of Kyrgyzstan most of households do not have access to hot and clean water. Women and girls are more exposed to water and sanitation related

diseases because they are traditionally in charge of households tasks.

In Batken, women and children are forced to consume water from streams and are consequently more likely to get typhoid fever.

The risk to get infected in this area is three time the normal average.

In the Bolshoi Chuiskii Kanal (Bishkek), men and women put their health at risk and pollute one of Kyrghyzstan’s largest water sources to wash carpets with chemical

detergents.
