Everglades’ Virtual Graduation Will Be Held On Friday, June 19th at 4:00 PM
If you are a 12th grader this year (a senior in the Class of 2020):
• You need to have passed the Algebra 1 course.
• You do not need to take the Algebra 1 End-of-Course examination.
If you are an 11th grader this year (a junior in the Class of 2021) and taking Algebra 1 this
year:
• You need to pass the Algebra 1 course.
• You do not need to take an Algebra 1 End-of-Course examination to pass the Algebra 1
course
• You need to demonstrate Algebra 1 proficiency prior to graduation using a State of
Florida approved external examination.
• It is recommended that students in the Class of 2021 do all of the following until the
Algebra 1 proficiency requirement is met:
o Have a passing score on the Geometry EOC
o Have a concordance score of the SAT math of 420 or on the ACT math of 16 o
Take Algebra 1 Retake exams starting in the Fall of 2020
If you are a 10th grader or younger this year, (a sophomore in the Class of 2021 through
Kindergarten in the Class of 2032), and taking Algebra 1 this year:
• You need to pass the Algebra 1 course.
• You do not need to take an Algebra 1 End-of-Course examination to pass the Algebra 1
course
• You need to demonstrate Algebra 1 proficiency prior to graduation using a State of
Florida approved external examination.
• It is recommended that students in the Class of 2021 do all of the following until the
Algebra 1 proficiency requirement is met:
o Have a passing score on the Geometry EOC
o Have a concordance score of the SAT math of 420 or on the ACT math of 16
• It is strongly recommended that students do not take Algebra 1 Retake exams until they
have failed to earn a concordance score or a passing grade on the Geometry EOC. Only
after completing their junior year, and if the student has not meet the Algebra 1 EOC
requirement by a concordant method, should a student commence taking the Algebra 1
Retake exam.
Final Exams for non-EOC courses (6-12)
• The waiver of final exams has been done by BCPS administration. A mark
substitution process for the final exam has been developed.
• The substitute mark for the final exam grade will be the higher of the 3rd or 4th
Quarter Grade.
• Mark substitution will occur with no need for work by the classroom teacher or
school staff.
Final Exams for End-Of-Course (EOC) Courses (6-12)
• The EOC has been waived by the State. The mark substitution process for the EOC
has been developed.
• Mark substitution will occur with no need for work by the classroom teacher or
school staff.
• IF the student earns a grade of “A”, “B”, or “C” in quarter 4, THEN o The mark
substitution for the EOC will be the highest of the grades from Quarters 1-4;
• IF the student earns a grade of “D” in quarter 4, THEN o The grade for the EOC is the
highest of the grades from Quarters 3 or 4
• The EOC substitution mark will be 30% of final course grade.
Final Grades
• Final grades for secondary (grades 6-12) courses are calculated from quarter grades,
mid-terms, and final exams/EOCs.
• Final grades are calculated by the appropriate formula described in SBBC Policy
6000.1

Final Report Cards
• The issuance of final report cards is anticipated no later than Wednesday, June 10,
2020 via Virtual Counselor.
