When the player many believe to be the greatest of all time walked onto centre
court at Rod Laver Arena in the Australian Open quarterfinals, it was his
thousandth singles appearance on the professional tour, his 31st consecutive
Grand Slam quarter-final, and this player was in search of his 2000th set. As Andy
Roddick once said to his long-time nemesis, but for whose existence the American
would have won three Wimbledon titles rather than none, Id love to hate you,
but youre really nice. Firstly, X took just 24 matches to crack the legendarily
difficult transition into the worlds top 100. Somewhat bizarrely, only eight of
them were wins.

This technology invented by Bill Carlton, was used on the system, which must beactivated by the service line umpire before each serve, projects five or six infra-
red horizontal beams of light along the court 10 mm above the ground. One
beam covers the good (short) side of the service line and others cover the fault
(long) side. If a served ball hits the first beam, the other beams are turned off,
while a long serve will break one of the other beams. A long serve is indicated
by an audible signal. In this way, the system could keep an eye out for serves
which partially hit the line.

________________ was America's first popular parlor game. The game simulates a
person's travels through his or her life, from college to retirement, with jobs,
marriage, and possible children along the way. Two to six players can participate in
one game, however, variations of the game have been made to accommodate amaximum of only eight or ten players.
The game board was essentially a modified checkerboard. The object was to land on
the "good" spaces and collect 100 points. A player could gain 50 points by reaching
"Happy Old Age" in the upper-right corner, opposite "Infancy" where one began.

From his first National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) college games
for DePaul on, Mikan dominated his peers. He intimidated opponents with
his size and strength, was unstoppable on offense with his hook shot, and
soon established a reputation as one of the hardest and grittiest players in
the league, often playing through injury and punishing opposing centers with
hard fouls. In addition, Mikan also surprised the basketball world by his
unique ability of _________, i.e. jumping so high that he swatted the ball
away before it could pass the hoop. In Mikan's time it was legal because
people thought it was impossible anyone could reach that high.

An off spin bowler, he was one of the famed Indian quartet of spin bowlers in
the 1970s (the others being Bhagwat Chandrasekhar, Bishen Bedi and ErapalliPrasanna). He was also a strong close-in fielder and a useful tail-end bat. He
came on to the Test scene at the age of 20 when he was selected to play
against the touring New Zealand side. By the end of the series he had emerged
as a world-class spinner, taking 12 wickets in the Delhi test that led India to
victory. He was the vice-captain of the Indian team that toured the West
Indies and England in 1970-71.
His name was very difficult to pronounce and he was given numerous
nicknames during his stint in the English county. In his later years he said that of
all the nicknames he had, he enjoyed "rent-a-wagon" the most.

The release of the 1987 film__________,
the fifteenth in the James Bondseries, reawakened usage of this old phrase. When we refer to someone
having the _______ beaten, scared, or knocked out of them, we just mean that
they have been badly beaten or scared, or knocked unconscious. The imagery
is of someone being so discomfited as to lose the power of sight. Like similar
examples, such as 'beat the stuffing out of', the phrase is often used with an air
of exaggeration and not always meant to be taken literally.
This phrase is also extensively used by our favourite commentator, Ravi
Shastri when Virender Sehwag is in a blistering mood while making bowlers
toil.
