•Can be used to discover positive and negative ripple effects of an event, concept, innovation etc

•We’ll do a two layer Futures Wheel after this example

Topic•Write the name of the task, event,

concept, innovation in the centre of the wheel

•ie. Getting a cat

First Layer•Write two positives and two negatives

about the topic around the topic

•Cat will play beautiful music on tuba

•Cat will need someone to take care of it when we are on vacation

•Discuss your positives and negatives

Second Layer•Attached to each positive, attach

another positive and one negative that are related to the first layer

•Cat will play beautiful music on tuba

•+ We will get on Tonight Show

•- Neighbours don’t like our tuba music currently

•On each negative, attach another negative and one positive that are related related to the first layer

Present

•At end of exercise we’ll ask the tables to present their top + and top - from your first two layers

•You could continue with third layer etc.

Your Table Topic: BYOD

•What are the ripple effects of BYOD

•BYOD: Bring your own device (technology, smartphone, laptop, tablet...)

•AKA bring your own tech, personally owned devices (BYOT, PODs)

•10 minutes per layer + presentations
