 victory in the Senior Classicevent, but a day that began

 with so much promise endedin the most heartbreakingcircumstances.

Farquhar – who was dueto compete in today’s Clas-sic Superbike race at theManx Grand Prix – says he

is no longer willing to takethe inherent risks involved

in road rac-ing after wit-nessing thedevastatingeffects of hisuncle’s fatalaccident onMr Ferguson’s

 wife and threechildren.
