NAMI GC 2017 Conference and Annual Meeting
Conference Description: Persons with mental illnesses
and substance abuse are often referred to as dual diag-
nosed and are a growing population within our communi-
ty. This conference acknowledges “We’re In This Togeth-
er,” whether you are an individual dually diagnosed, a
family member, a mental health/chemical dependency
professional, and/or a community stakeholder. It is essen-
tial that we educate ourselves on models of intervention
which can help us all, especially those we serve. The
integrated dual disorders treatment model is one which is
holistic and is an evidence based practice that can en-
hance both the mental health and addictive service deliv-
ery systems.
Conference Objectives:
To discuss, identify, and disseminate information on
providing an integrated treatment system for persons
diagnosed with mental illness and substance disor-
ders.
To foster through educational enrichment, a greater
understanding of the effects of mental illness and
substance abuse on individuals, families, and the
treatment delivery system.
To increase the communication and networking opportu-
nities for volunteers, professionals, advocates and per-
sons dually diagnosed and their families.
