We are all very excited that the Play Pod opened on Monday. As you will see from the pho‐tos and am sure you will have heard from your children, it has been great fun! The staff have all been amazed at the games, dens and crea ve play that has been evident in the play‐ground at lunch me. There has been lots of interest from children in all year groups. The supply of scrap materials are delivered on a regular basis so the children will always have new and exci ng things to play with. This week has also been Spanish Week. the children have really enjoyed the range of ac vi‐es, that have included learning new songs in Spanish, learning how to cook some Spanish
food dishes, taking part in flamenco dance workshops and listening to the lovely sounds of the Spanish guitar, as well as listening to parents and other visitors talk about their travels and living in a country where Spanish is the na ve language. Thank you to all the parents who have given up their me to come and talk to different classes over the week. We are planning a Spanish Fiesta along with another local primary school, in Millfields Park during the Summer term, so watch this space! Another exci ng event this week was the Guinness World Record a empt ‐’Sign to Sing’. Children from both KS1 and KS2 choirs and their peers took part in the event that happened across the country. All of the children have really, enjoyed learning sign language, and we collected money for the na onal deaf charity, sign health. Thank you to all the staff and chil‐dren who took part –they will be receiving their cer ficates today. Thank you also to you all for your generous dona ons. We have also been taking part in lots of sports events again this week. The Year 5 children have finished their basketball coaching at Clapton Academy, the netball team played ex‐tremely well on Monday and were runners up in the inter‐Hackney compe on, even though this is their very first compe ve game. Well done and thank you to Nicole, Sharon and the team. Also, the cycling team are taking part in a local compe on at Springfield this a ernoon, so good luck to them! The deba ng team also took part in a compe ve debate this week. The team spoke very convincingly about whether the school day should be extended un l 6pm! Well done to eve‐ryone who took part! Finally, thank you to all the children and parents who came to the Disco last Friday. There was lots of dancing and cool tunes from our resident DJ, Lloyd –thank you very much! I hope you all have a good weekend. Best Wishes, Jane
