Some points to remember for the correct pronunciation of words in French

  In French language the letter “H” is mostly silent. As a letter it has

a sound but in words it is not pronounced most of the time.Example: Homme , Hotel

 The letter “J” sounds like “s” in measure.Example: Je , Jardin  The letter “T” and “D” have a soft pronunciation like Hindi

alphabets _____& _____.Example: Tu , Tomate , Difficile, Diner  “CH” always has the sound of “SH”, “CH” together has “______”

sound. Example:Chaise, Chanter, Chapeau   The Letter “C”, if followed by letter “I” and “E” , sounds like “S”

but elsewhere sounds like “K”. Example: Ce , Cafe Letters “S”, “T” , “D” are mostly silent in French language.

In French, accent plays an important role in the pronunciation. There are 7 accents which are always predefined.Various accents are as follows:-

L’accent aigu : Can be found on letter “e”. L’accent grave : Can be found on letters “a, e, u” L’accent circonflexe : can be found on vowels. La cedilla :This accent comes under “C”. Le threma :when two vowels come next to each other

as “oe”. L’apostrophe : This accent shows the omission of a

vowel. Le trait d’union: This accent is used to connect certain

words.
