Freelance Sports Journalist Dan Moorhouse

The product

As a sports journalist I will be providing a service which primarily focuses on the latest news and topics surrounding the sporting world. The topics I will be covering will vary all the time depending on whats happened during that day.

What does my industry need?

I feel something which is needed across freelance sports journalism is someone who doesn’t just specialise in one particular sport, someone who covers multiple sports and I feel I can fulfil this area with my knowledge and passion for a number of sports and also my willingness to learn about the types which don’t get mentioned.

The future of my industry

I believe that it wont be long until all forms of media will be online based and print based will be a thing of the past. Numbers of newspapers sold in the UK have fallen by almost half a million over the last year and that number is only going to increase in time.

Promotion

As well as the old fashion way of business cards to get my name out there, social media in recent times has become a huge platform in getting yourself seen so I feel having social media accounts on applications such as LinkedIn and Twitter will help me to promote myself.

Financial After working out the yearly rate I hope to

achieve this will be the amount of money I will contribute for income tax and also national insurance.

£5000 loan

I would spend my money on a week intense driving course in order to pass faster rather than waiting the normally few months or even years. I will then buy a car. After adding up all the costs for this it comes to a total of £1,508.

£5000 loan I think that having a fast laptop which is

stored with Microsoft packages and also Adobe InDesign will be key for me to produce good quality work and be able to report when I'm out at sporting events. The price of these together comes to a total of £1,676.99.

Paying back the £5000

After working how much money I will be spending each month and also making sure I have a small balance left each month for any unexpected costs, I would be able to pay back £200 a month so in total making 25 months worth of £200 payments.
