Free Play!!
Good afternoon families, we started our morning off outside for a little run around while we waited for all of our friends
to show up. We then headed inside for some healthy juicy fruit. When the children had finished their fruit they put their
own plates and cups away and washed their hands. The Elephants then headed over to the mat and had some time for
free play, this included home corner, smiles, cuddles from the kangaroo, train tracks, and lastly but not least book corner.
The children had a fun morning exploring the room with a variety of things to play with. Archie and Angie were so caring
to the babies and Kangaroo teddy that they gave them kisses, cuddles and food. This was
great to see the children nurturing who they care about.
LO 4.1 – children develop dispositions for learning such as curiosity, cooperation, confi-
dence, creativity, commitment, enthusiasm, persistence, imagination and investigation
Art!! Today for art Miss Tenneile asked the Elephants
if they would like to start getting ready for Hal-
loween. Kylen replied with excitement “YES
Miss Tenneile”. What would you like to for Hal-
loween then? Harrison and Archie replied
“Ghost”.
When Miss Tenneile came back with the stuff to
make our friendly ghost the Elephants could not
wait to have their turns. One by one each Ele-
phant sat down with Miss Tenneile and had a go
of gluing and placing the cotton balls onto the
paper. While the Elephants were placing the
balls onto the paper Miss Tenneile ask the chil-
dren what they felt like.
Kylen, Harrison and Angie all replied with “soft
and fluffy”. Miss Tenneile then replied they are
very soft aren't they. Kylen turned to Archie and
said “look Archie they are very soft”. It was
great to see the Elephants showing such great
interest in doing the art but also exploring the
texture of the cotton balls and talking to their
friends about it also.
LO 1.4 – children learn to interact in relation
to others with care, empathy and respect
Exploring The Big Yard!!
After some free play inside the Elephants all gathered their hats and headed out to the big yard for outdoor play. The Elephants all
beamed with excitement once the educators had mentioned that this was the plan. Once we made it to the big yard the children
were free to set off and play for a while. Archie, Aiden, Dillon and Linxi were the first to run over to the sand pit. With each others
help the Elephants used big trucks to transport sand all around the sand pit and build sand castles. Molly and Luka tried their best to
complete the obstacle course, as it was the big yard so the obstacle course was a little more advanced. Some assistance from Miss
Bree was needed. The remainder of the Elephants spent the morning in the home corner shed or on the play ground. After about 30
minutes outside the Elephants were ready to head inside to make their beds and have some lunch.
LO 3.2 – children take increasing responsibility for their own health and physical well-being
