“Curiosity”
This photo was taken in the village of Abhaneri, near Jaipur, India, famous for its ancient step well Chand Baori. As we watched the village potter at work, this girl appeared through the wall behind us and allowed me to take this photo.
Taken on a Leica M24 with a Leica Noctilux 50mm f/0.95 lens. Using Iso 1600, speed 1/90sec and aperture f=0.95. Edited using Lightroom 6.
This is first attempt at entering any photographic competition.
At the last committee meeting Jeff Symons and myself pro-
posed that the committee “give consideration to the development of a “Vision For the Future” docu-ment as a guide for future direc-tions for our club.”
The committee has agreed to do that, and Jeff will be project managing the task. The develop-ment of the proposal will require widespread consultation across the whole club membership, and I invite you to start giving some thought to the kind of vision that you would like to see for our club.
This could include, amongst other things, consideration of the equipment the club owns (and the members’ use of it), our facili-ties for meetings and other activi-ties, courses and presentations we might want to offer, the activities of both the day group and the social group, our competitions, our
relationship with other organisa-tions and community groups, and our public relations.
We expect that it will take some months to canvas all the issues throughout the membership and synthesize and report on the input, so it would be helpful if you started thinking about these issues now and have opinions that are fully formed when we come to get your feedback.
The committee wants the club to be responsive to what the members want, and we will need your input.
Also, given that it is already July (where do the months go!) our next AGM is in three months, i.e. Octo-ber. All positions on the committee will be up for nominations before then so that a new committee can be voted in at the AGM. I therefore invite you to also think about what contribution you could make to the club, and think about nominating

Daytime Group
Last month at the Day Group meeting members showed
a few of their images take on the Cape Schanck outing. This was followed by an excellent talk by Ian Cross on Wildlife photography.
Ian showed some of his bird and wildlife photos that he has taken around the world and dis-cussed how and where he took them. The day time forum is excellent for this with the small group. It is a pity that the Library projector does not do photos of this caliber justice.
On the 19th of July we were to have a shoot at Montsalvat at Eltham. Montsalvat is an old artists colony built in the 1930’s by architect and artist Justus Jorgensen. The buildings and grounds offer a unique oppor-tunity for photography. Entry to Montsalvat is $14.00 ($10.00
Concession) but they just told me that they have added a pho-tography fee of $150 per hour (for a group). I feel this is some-what unfair to impose this extra charge - I wonder what they say to individuals who are taking photographs. In principal I feel that it shouldn’t be encouraged and will have further discussion with them. I will make contact with regular day group attendees and see how they feel and will swap the McClelland Gallery in Langwarrin if that is a consensus. For information on Montsalvat click here.
