FIRM PROFILE
For over five decades, KMD Architects has stood out among its peers. Founded in 1963, the young San Francisco, California-based firm quickly grew into an international multi-practice design powerhouse. Today, KMD Architects is known worldwide for exceptional design excellence in a wide array of building types including hotels/resorts, retail, civic, mixed-use, academic, residential, office, healthcare, adaptive reuse and urban design. KMD has won over 200 International Design Awards including over 40 from the American Institute of Architects (AIA).
In 50 years, we’ve learned a few things.
We’ve learned that superb design is the result of creative innovation and vision.
We’ve learned that by hiring the best and the brightest designers who continually challenge each other and the status quo, the spaces we create are fresh, vibrant and lasting.
We’ve learned that passion is not bound by geographic location and by enabling an open dialogue between our offices worldwide, we maximize the extraordinary exchange of ideas.
More than anything, we’ve learned that the most important quality to cultivate is a dedication to building relationships with our client partners. Only here can true success be realized.
OVER 50 YEARS OF DESIGN EXCELLENCE
KMD has served clients in many different geographical locations where context and culture make every project unique. Our work and expertise is as diverse as the locations in which it can be found. KMD designs have been built in over 30 states and 15 countries around the world, such as Korea, France, Japan, China, Malaysia, Brazil, Mexico and the Middle East.
