Theme Generator…

Select any two words…

• By combining words together we’d like you to sketch/illustrate a costume for a character to wear

• The costume should reflect both words from your own perspective

• For example - what comes to mind when you think of the words Futuristic & Floral ?

• Don’t worry if you’re not great a drawing figures, we’ve attached some templates for you to use

Prop Placement…

These images were visual research for a script called ‘The Small Garden’

A story is set in a rather neglected Victorian house

Scenes take place in the Hallway, Kitchen and Study: assume the study is one of the principle ground floor rooms

Once locations are found, designers have to decide how the spaces (sets) should be dressed (furnished)

These photos are further visual research

Draw a plan of the Study

• My plan represents a principle ground floor room in a Victorian (1837 -1901) house, built probably around 1895

• If you have it, use grid (graph) paper - keep proportions constant so everything looks the same scale (in proportion)

• Draw items of furniture on the plan

• It may be a good idea to draw items on a separate sheet and cut them out so you can move items around

• Imagine the house has been neglected for around 20 years… so it’s quite shabby
