Fighting Fatigue

I. The Major Key: Overcoming exhaustion and sadness in life is not innate or something that just happens over time. IT MUST BE TAUGHT!

Philippians 4:11 (AMP)11 Not that I speak from [any personal] need, for I have learned to be content [and self-sufficient through Christ, satisfied to the point where I am not disturbed or uneasy] regardless of my circumstances.

Colossians 2:6-76-7 So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.

II. The fear of “what might happen” is Satan’s greatest weapon. Those constantly repetitious thoughts fuel fatigue.

I Kings 19:1-3 (AMP)1 Now Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, and how he had killed all the prophets [of Baal] with the sword. 2 Then Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah, saying, “So may the gods do to me, and even more, if by this time tomorrow I do not make your life like the life of one of them.” 3 And Elijah was afraid and arose and ran for his life, and he came to Beersheba which belongs to Judah, and he left his servant there.

III. Satan wants death to feel more appealing than life because he knows you were born with the power to outlast his attacks.

I Kings 19:4 (AMP)4 But he himself traveled a day’s journey into the wilderness, and he came and sat down under a juniper tree and asked [God] that he might die. He said, “It is enough; now, O Lord, take my life, for I am no better than my fathers.”

Lamentations 3:25 (ESV)25 The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him.

Isaiah 40:31 (ESV)31 But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

Principles To Conquering Fatigue

1. God knows you’ve been mistreated, wounded and lied on, but never succumb to self pity. (See Colossians 1:3)

I Kings 19:5&65 He lay down and slept under the juniper tree, and behold, an angel touched him and said to him, “Get up and eat.” 6 He looked, and by his head there was a bread cake baked on hot coal, and a pitcher of water. So he ate and drank and lay down again.

2. Change happens to everyone. Stop crying over it and participate in the process.

1 Kings 19:77 Then the angel of the Lord came again a second time and touched him and said, “Get up, and eat, for the journey is too long for you [without adequate sustenance].”

3. Every issue is not resolved overnight. The biggest breakthrough comes after patience and endurance.

James 1:1212 Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.

1 Kings 19:8-9,158 So he got up and ate and drank, and with the strength of that food he traveled forty days and nights to Horeb (Sinai), the mountain of God. Elijah at Horeb 9 There he came to a cave and spent the night in it; and behold, the word of the Lord came to him, and He said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”

1 Kings 19:1010 He said, “I have been very zealous (impassioned) for the Lord God of hosts (armies) [proclaiming what is rightfully and uniquely His]; for the sons of Israel have abandoned (broken) Your covenant, torn down Your altars, and killed Your prophets with the sword. And I, only I, am left; and they seek to take away my life.”

1 Kings 19:1515 The Lord said to him, “Go, return on your way to the Wilderness of Damascus; and when you arrive, you shall anoint Hazael as king over Aram (Syria);

4. Fatigue stems from feeling like your life is out of control. An emotional breakthrough comes the moment you take the value off tangible and frivolous (earthly) things and focus on eternal things. In the words of my Mother (Apostle Betty Peebles) “esteem earthly things lightly.”

Colossians 3:22 Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.

5. Who owns your joy and why? If the answer isn’t Christ, then you’ve elected a person to be your God. HAVE A NEW ELECTION!

Nehemiah 8:1010 ...And do not be grieved, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.
