FIELD FUSIBLE LINK REPLACEMENT  

1. Manuallyopentheventdoorsbypullingtherooflevelrelease.

2. Manuallypushthetopofeachlatchoutward,towardstheoutsideofthevent,

about114"to112",andclamplatchestocenterbraceusingvisegrips,locking

pliers,orsmallc‐clamps.

3. Using7/16"wrenches,carefullyremovetheexistingfusiblelinkfromthe

equalizerspringandthelatch.

4. Installreplacementfusiblelinkbetweenthelatchandtheequalizerspring.

CAUTIONDONOTOVERTIGHTEN

NotethatnyloninsertlockingnutsareutilizedFusiblelinkmustbefreetopivot.

5. Manuallyclosetheventdoors,andcheckforproperlatching.STBP6

6. Pulltheroof‐levelrelease,toinsureproperopeningoftheventdoors.

7. Manuallyclosetheventdoors.

INSTALLATIONINSTRUCTIONS‐FX250FIREX

1. Lifttheunittotheroof‐notetheliftpointsstenciledonthedoors.Ifunitiscrated,lifttotheroofinthecrate.

2. Positiontheunitadjacenttotheroofopeninganduncrate,ifcrated.3. Placetheunitovertheroofopening(ifself‐flashingtype)orontheroofcurb(ifcurb

type).Theunitsmustbeflatandtrueonthemountingsurfaceandnotbeinatwisttoinsureproperoperationandweatherseal.

4. Anchortheunitinplace.5. Carefullyremovetheshippingstrapthatisinstalledatmiddletopofventdoors.See

sketch250‐10fordetails.6. Theunitcannowbeopenedmanuallytocheckforproperoperationbypullingthe

rooflevelmanualreleasehandle.BESURETOSTAYCLEAROFTHESPRINGLOADEDDOORS.

7. Ifmanualinsidereleasecableisfurnished,itwillnowbeaccessiblewhilethedoorsareopen.Theinsidereleasewillbetapedontothecabletotheroofrelease.Untapeanddropinsidereleasehandle.

8. Resetthedoorsbypushingdowninthecenterofthedooruntilthelatchesengage.Besurethatthesealsalongthecentergutterareproperlyaligned.

9. Innormaloperationnolubricationormaintenancewillberequiredforthelifeoftheunit.

Thebasicdesignandconstructionofthisautomaticallyoperatedroofventisvirtuallymaintenancefree.Allcomponentpiecesoftheoperatingmechanismaremanufacturedofcorrosionresistantmaterials.Allpivotsarebrass,bronzeorstainlesssteel.BasedontheaboveMoffittCorporationmakesthefollowingrecommendations:

I. Unitsshouldbemanuallyopenedonceevery12months,byuseoftheroofrelease.II. Afteropening,unitshouldbevisuallycheckedwithparticularattentiontotheintegrityof

springs,fusiblelinkandlatchcomponents.Nolubricatantsorcoatingsshouldbeapplied.III. Doorsshouldbemanuallyresetfromroofline.IV. Inordertoinsuretheautomaticreleaseoftheseunits,NOmaterialsmaybestoredonorin

theseunitsandunitsmustNOTbeusedforgeneralventilation,norshouldtheybefieldpainted.

V. Intheunlikelyeventreplacementpartsarerequired,theyshouldbepurchasedfromthemanufacturertoinsuretheintegrityandproperoperationoftheunit.
