AN UPDATED REPORT ON OUR SUPPORT OF
“UPON THIS ROCK”. Our 35% share of this
fund has been received—$4,110.33. These
funds will be used to restore our Church doors.
Thank you for your continued support.
Dear Parishioners,
Here is a report regarding the Parish which I prepared
for the Diocese and which I am happy to share with
you. The parishioners seem happy with the state of the
Parish. The Pastor, Rev. James B. Cunningham, and
the Parish Deacon, Mr. Robert M. Dobmeier, work
well together to serve the Parishioners. Weekly
collections are lower than in past years, but not
significantly so.
Parish Council Members meet monthly to discuss the
ongoing process of each of the Parish committees. On
an ongoing basis the Members discuss the relevant
issues regarding Parish Life and Financial stability.
The Finance Committee of the Parish reviews all
finance reports and assists in preparing the budget.
Resolution is made upon completion of the finance
report.
All committees report through the Parish Council. All
committee chairs are to consider a request to file
committee meeting minutes with the Parish Council
Secretary. These minutes become part of the Parish
Council records. A resolution to approve Parish
Council minutes/reports is made at each Parish Council
meeting.
Parish upkeep is an on-going process. Major updates
are being considered in light of the Upon This Rock
disbursements. Church doors are to be refinished as
well as repairs to the Church roof.
It has been noted that Parish Religious Education and
Parish RCIA will continue to run well under the
leadership of Mrs. Cheryl McNerney and Deacon
Robert Dobmeier, respectively. Funds are allotted for
both these Parish functions. Budget review is always in
process so as to allow for future parish expenses that
occur on an ongoing basis.
Peace, Father Jim
LITURGY CONNECTION—Why did the words
change for the Mass? A new translation of the Roman Rite
of the Mass went into effect at the approval of the Vatican in
2011 for English-speaking countries. While the previous
translation aimed to provide a more understandable “gist” of
the prayers from the original Latin, the new translation aims
at a literal translation with an emphasis on reverence for
God. The new translation is also closer to
what is prayed at Mass in other languages
around the world, thus demonstrating the
unity of the universal Church. Perhaps
most noticeably, the response “And also
with you” became “And with your spirit.”
