Facebook is the largest photo-sharing

site with over 2.5 billion photos

uploaded to Facebook each month. In

order to make sharing photos even

easier, today we are announcing a new

and improved photo uploader.

Recently we've received feedback

that people struggle with our

current photo uploader due to

various technical issues, while

others are confused by the

installation process. In this new

version of the photo uploader, we

have solved many of those

problems and developed a fast,

stable and simple experience for

sharing photos on Facebook.

The new uploader will be rolling outgradually over the next several weeks. Oncethis upgrade has launched for you, the firsttime you go to upload a new photo you'll beasked to install the Facebook Plug-In.Simply click "Install" when you see thedialogue box in your web browser.

Installation should take no longer thantwo minutes, and you will usually not haveto restart your browser to continue.

Once the installation is complete, youwill see a simple photo browserappear in a dialogue box on yourscreen. The top half of the box allowsyou to browse and select the foldersfrom your desktop that contain yourphotos.

From the bottom half of the box, you canchoose which photos you'd like to uploadto your Facebook profile. Click the "UseSelected Photos" button when you're readyto upload.

Once you have started yourupload, you'll discover anotherfeature, asynchronous uploading,that allows you to navigate awayfrom the upload page, or evenaway from Facebook completely,while your photos continue toupload in the background.

When the process iscomplete, you willreceive a notificationand can navigate back toedit, tag and addcaptions to your photos.

The installation box for thephoto uploader will appearanytime you do somethingon the site that requires it—for example, when youcreate a new photo albumor add photos to an existingalbum. The new photouploader will also supportadditional image formats.

Our goal with this upgrade is to give you a fast,stable and simple experience for sharing photoson Facebook with your friends.
