Representative Michael Castle delivered the Keynote at Delaware Futures Second Annual Alumni Luncheon at the DuPont Hotel, 11th and Market Streets, Wilmington Delaware. Throughout his life as a public servant, Mike Castle has consistently stressed the importance of education and worked to insure both quality and accessibility for all students.
Dr. Harry Williams, Delaware State University President introduced Mike proclaiming him a “giant” while the audience responded with a standing ovation.
The Luncheon honored DF Alumnae Keisha Kilson, a Delaware Futures Class of 2000 graduate. Keisha earned a Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations and a Master’s in Business Administration at Delaware State University.
She is the first in her family to earn advanced degrees and is currently a computer technical specialist for Citigroup. Throughout her time at Citigroup, Ms. Kilson has been recognized for exemplary performance and teamwork.
From Delaware Futures’ inception, Delaware State University has been a college partner. Beginning with Delaware Futures’ 1st graduating class in 1998 to the most recent graduating class in 2010, Delaware State University has awarded 4-year full tuition scholarships to 15 of Delaware Futures graduates. Of the 15, 1 went into the military; 4 are attending college; and 8 have earned college degrees!

“Delaware Futures community service project at the Food Bank taught me there are less fortunate people in the world. I need to be more grateful and cherishing of what I received from my family and friends and not to be so picky and selfish.”
“Through Delaware Futures, I got to tutor little kids in elementary school at a Boys and Girls Club. I can relate because there were times when I was in elementary school that I couldn’t understand some things and needed extra help.”
