Case Description & Hypotheses

• Fracture of the bent brass contact piece in various light bulb sockets

• The unbent contact never failed

• Brass composition from EDS:– Copper – 70%– Zinc – 30%

• Possible causes:– Overload– Fatigue– Corrosion
