FACULTY SUPPORT @ BROWN LIBRARY

Reaching Goals Together:

Faculty Evaluation Forms

“design learning activities that facilitate student engagement, active learning, critical thinking…”

“Select high quality learning resources”“facilitate higher order cognitive skills…such

as analyzing, evaluating…”“foster communication” “substantially alter an assignment”“Engage in… conference presentations,

scholarly research,… publication.”

How can the library help?

Many library services dovetail with key points in the Faculty Evaluation Form.

Think of the library as a willing partner.

Library Instruction/Workshops

The traditional library visit where the students are introduced to the library and its resources. Is that what you need?

A session on how to evaluate websites may be more relevant for your class. These sessions can be customized to meet your students’ needs.

Hands-on workshops allow your students to get started on research with help from the team.

Embedded Librarian

Encourages student communication with library staff and other students.

Creates familiarity with library staff and resources. Connects students with academic supports on campus.

Gives students a quick simple way to contact librarians at their point of need.

InfoGuides

The librarians can create a one-stop shop for your particular class or the class in general. ex. ENG 112 Browning

See our Faculty Resources InfoGuide!

Assignment Collaboration

Don’t have an assignment that requires research or information evaluation? Talk to us. We can discuss opportunities.

Determine what kind of sources best support an assignment. Open web or library sources or both?

Unhappy with the quality of sources students are using? Talk to us about how we can help.

Active Learning Activities

Scavenger Hunts (Can be customized for your subject area)

Hands-on activities related to the instruction topic can be created. Ex. scholarly vs. popular sources, website evaluation (see example)

Self-Paced Online Learning Opportunities

Library Orientation InfoGuide and Blackboard Quiz
