Go to www.facebook.com
Provide your first name, last name, email address, password, gender and birthday
Click on ‘Sign up’
You may choose to ‘Find Friends’ or proceed to the next step
Simply click on ‘Skip’ to go to the next step
To add information to your profile, provide your academic background like your school where you finished high school,
university, your current employer, the city you currently reside and your hometown
Click on ‘Save & Continue’ to go to the next step

Upload your photo to your personal profile by clicking ‘Upload a Photo’ or simply take a photo of yourself by
clicking ‘Take a Photo’.
Click on ‘Save & Continue’ to proceed to the next step
Click on ‘Go to your email’ on the top most portion of your Facebook page to confirm
your newly created personal page
Click on the link provided to confirm your account
Click on the link provided to confirm your account
You now have a Facebook Personal Page.

Go to ‘What’s on your mind?’ section on your Facebook page
After clicking on ‘Post’ your newly posted status, photo, video, place or life event will
automatically be shown on your page

How to upload a picture

On your Facebook page, Click on ‘Upload Photo/Video
Choose the photo that you would like to upload from your computer
files
The newly uploaded photo will now be shown in your Photos
folder and in your timeline
If you would like to add photos into your profile, simply click on ‘Add Photos ‘ on the upper right portion of your Facebook page
Find and choose the photo that you would like to add to your Facebook
profile from your computer
Type in the name of the album and the title of the photo
The photo will now be shown in your timeline
You can also view your newly uploaded photo on your Photos folder on your
Facebook page

How to upload a video

Click on ‘Upload photo/Upload video on your Facebook page
Choose the video that you would like to upload from your computer files
Wait until the video has been uploaded completely into your Facebook page
After uploading the video completely, you will receive a notification on your window screen and
by email that the newly uploaded video is ready to view
Simply wait for the notification to pop up or be sent to your email
After you receive the notification, you can automatically view the newly uploaded video on your timeline

How to upload an external link

Click on ‘Status’ on your Facebook page
Copy the link from the website from which you will get the link
Paste the link into the status area on your Facebook page. You may choose to add a
title of the link if you want
Click on ‘Post’ to publish the external link you just added into your Facebook page. After clicking on
‘Post’ the external link will automatically be viewable on your timeline

Click the settings symbol on the upper right corner of your Facebook page and choose
‘Privacy settings’
Choose the settings that you prefer for your profile, whether you would like it to be public or not and whether you would
like your profile to be searchable by the public or not by clicking on ‘Edit’ found across each section
Make the changes that you prefer from the choices given in the drop down menu.
Then, simply return to your profile page

How to search for friends

Next to the name of your Facebook profile (example, Michelle Smith) on the upper right portion of your page, click on ‘Find
Friends’
You can add friends from your ‘Personal contacts’ or contacts you have in your email account or from
the ‘People you may know’ list just below the ‘People in your contacts’ section
Simply click on ‘Add friend’ found across the name of the friend you would like to
add

On the top most portion of your Facebook page, you will see a search box. Simply type in the name
of the page that you would like to search
Click on the page that you would like to view from the list provided according to
your search

Search the page where you would like to post something. You may use the search
box or locate the page from your friends list
On the page where you would like to post something, click on ‘Status’
Type in the information that you would like to post on the ‘Post’ area of the page and then click on
‘Share’ for it to be posted completely on the page’s wall

Two options in creating business page
Local business or place
Company, Organisation or Institution
If you wish to add a business page of a ‘Local business or place’ follow
these steps

At the bottom portion of your Facebook page, click on ‘Create a page’
Choose ‘Local business or place’ from among the choices given
Choose the type of business you operate from the dropdown menu provided
Tick your answer to the questions that follow regarding the legitimacy of your
business. Click on ‘Save Info’ to proceed to the next step
If you wish to add a business page of a ‘Company, Organisation or Institution’ follow these steps

At the bottom portion of your Facebook page, click on ‘Create a page’
Click on ‘Company, Organisation or Institution’. Choose the industry that your company belongs from the dropdown
menu provided. Enter your company name and tick ‘I agree to Facebook Page’s Terms’. Click on ‘Get Started’ to proceed
to the next step
You can add a photo to your company, organisation or institution business page by clicking on ‘Upload from
computer’ or ‘Import from website’. Click on ‘Save photo’ to proceed to the next step
Click on ‘Add a source to enable advertising’ then click on ‘Enable Ads’
Your newly created business page is now to ready for viewing on Facebook

Click on ‘Add cover’
Upload the photo from your computer files
Choose the photo that you would like to add as your timeline cover
You can add your profile picture if you want by clicking on ‘Upload from computer’ if the photo is saved in your
computer or click ‘Import from website’ if the photo can be uploaded from your website
You have just changed your timeline and your profile picture

Open MS PowerPoint
Insert the photo into the PowerPoint slide from where you have saved it in your
computer
Select the photo that you would like to create as a timeline picture from your
computer files
You can now edit the photo using the PowerPoint commands. After editing the photo, save it in your computer for it to be
ready for uploading into your Facebook business page timeline

Go to the ‘What’s new’ section of your business page. You can choose whether you want to post a Status, Photo or Video, Event, Milestone, Question
Provide the required information to be shown in your post. For example, if it is an event, provide the name of the event,
details, place, ticket and the schedule of the event
Click on ‘Create’ for the newly created event be shown on your timeline
Your post will automatically show up on your timeline as soon as you click on ‘Post’
Go to ‘What’s on your mind’ section and type in the details of your post. For example, if it is a
status simply type in your desired message then click ‘Post’

Establish a good and reputable business profile
Upload a cover photo and profile photo that depicts the products and services that you offer
Invite as many friends that you can so that you page will be visible to as many people
Invite email contacts to add the visibility of your business page

Share your business page to other Facebook users
Post updates regularly to boost the online presence of your business page
Add an advertisement as necessary
Create poll to get information whether you are reaching your target audience or not

When to post? The times are before work and after work, this
is when most people are likely to engage with you, Weekends are the appropriate times to post content on your business page.
However You should post at least 5 times a day, morning, mid morning, afternoon, after work and evening
