What is out there?

Is there an end?

Has the concept of space been fabricated in a Hollywood studio?

Why do we want to explore space?

But before we make the long journey into space……

The light-year (ly) is a unit used to measure distances to starts and other distant bodies.

1 ly is equal to 10X1015 meters… that is ~6 trillion miles (6,000,000,000,000) 12 zeros!!!

…CAN WE SURVIVE OUT THERE?Is there water?

Is there food?

Is the temperature suitable?

Is there anywhere for the spacecraft to land/take off from?

Are there other life forms which may exist?

These questions can be answered by unmanned spacecraft's which survey distant planets

DAILY RESOURCES

CONSUMABLES

• Food and Water

• Oxygen and Carbon Dioxide

• Fuel and Electricity

How might astronauts conserve these resources?

Can any of these consumables be recycled or generated in space?

PHYSICAL FITNESS

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES OF ALL ASTRONAUTS

1) Agility Astro-Course Astronauts must be able to go on long space walks with heavy equipment

2) Building an Astronaut "Core“ and Crew Strength Training Astronauts must be in perfect physical condition

3) Crew Assembly Training Wearing a heavy space suit can make simple tasks difficult

4) Do a Spacewalk! Muscular strength and coordination to push and pull materials for the mission

5) Speed of Light Hand eye coordination and reaction time

6) Mission Control Balance and spatial awareness
