WHAT IS AN EXCHANGE STUDY PACKAGE?Exchange Study Packages are balanced, coherent, well-structured, and self-contained sets of courses at a final Bachelor year academic level. Choosing one of these packages means you do not have to worry about selecting the right courses or managing your calendar to fit all of your classes. Simply apply for a package that suits your academic background and interest to be ensured of a well-balanced exchange programme, often consisting of 30 EC. These packages are generally accessible to students who have successfully completed the first two years of their Bachelor programme.

INTRODUCTION TO INDUSTRIALENGINEERING AND MANAGEMENT
This module aims to give students an overview of the fields
of Business & IT (BIT) and Industrial Engineering & Ma-
nagement (IEM), by analyzing several problems from diffe
rent perspectives, and teaching students how to design an
integral solution.
Learning GoalsStudents are supplied with the necessary know-howand experience that design, research and decision-making can be done in a systematic way, as opposedto a merely common-sense approach. Secondly, thismodule gives an overview of the topics to come. Eachweek a theme is introduced which will be explained in
one of the later modules in their study program. Finally, this module aims to be selective. By giving students agood overview on the themes and the academic level ofthe courses, at the end of the module students shouldbe able to understand if this is the right study programfor them. ContentEach odd week (1, 3, 5 &7) teaching is focusing on acertain IEM or BIT theme. During the even weeks theBIT and IEM students split up. The week themes are:production management, Excel skills, information management, simulation, supply chain management andsourcing, simulation, VBA programming, and financialmanagement .Throughout the module most of thethemes and the project adhere to the design cycle:Introduction –Analysis –Design –Implementation –Evaluation –Analysis –Design –Implementation. The design cycle is core to most of the IEM and BIT engineering courses. By connecting the teaching to the designcycle, knowledge and skills to be taught are put in context for students. Although an increasing amount of

emphasis is put to project work during the first 7 weeks, from week 8 on the major focus is on the completion ofthe final project.
