State police recue two personswho were kidnapped by agang and also recovered thevehicle (Maruti Van) hijackedby a gang on Saturday. Fourof the gang members whokidnapped the two personsand the vehicle were alsoarrested by the police team.Talk ing to media personstoday morning at KakchingPolice Station , VictoriaYengkhom, SP Kakching saidthat after getting specificinformation about thekidnapping and hijacking, ateam of Kakching districtpolice led by DSP H.Rameshwar Sharma under thesupervision of Additional SP,N. Netrajit, Kakching Policeconducted massive hunt forthe kidnappers. The twopersons were rescued whilethey were being brought in agold co loured numberlessMaruti car from Sekmaijin areaby a team of Kakching police.Three persons who kidnappedthe two were arrested whilethe Maruti Van they hijackedwas recovered from NewLambulane area in Imphalalong with the person whohad hijacked it.

Interestingly, one among thekidnapper is presentlyworking as Village DefenceForce (VDF) in Kakchingdistr ict identif ied asMoiranthem Tomba of KeirakTomal Makhong Pareng andanother is a surrendered KCPcadre identified as MutumNaobi Meitei of HeingangMakha Leikai. The two otherarrested kidnappers are –Huidrom Sunder of SektaAwang Leikai andYumlembam Chitaranjan ofKakwa Nameirakpam Leikai.The two persons rescued areDilip Limbu of KanglatombiColony and Bhim Tamang ofMedziphema Dimapur.

Kakching distr ict SPYengkhom Victorial said thatfurther investigation is beingcarried out in connection withthe case.The rescued driver of themaruti van Dilip Limbu whiletalking to media persons saidthat he was coming fromMoreh along with somepassengers of Kanglatombiyesterday at his van. Whenthey reached kakchingLamkhai, a golden colouredMaruti car over took andhalted them. Those peoplefrom the Maruti car identifiedthemselves as policepersonnel and ordered themto get down of the vehicle.

They were reportedly askedto take out their belongings.He said as they got down fromthe van a person who camein the Maruti car drive his vantowards Imphal. Later, thoseremaining three persons whocame in the maruti car tookthe driver Dilip along with apassenger to another route.Dilip further said that theywere threatened by theKidnapers inside the carwhile travelling but soon theywere stopped by a police teamwho were conductingfrisking. They were rescuedby the police team after theytold the police team abouthow they were inside the car.

A historicmarched was initiated byAMUCO where thousandsmarched and held a meetingthat resolved to stand firm forprotection of the integrity ofManipur, he added.Sanjoy stressed that theIndian government with itsdivide and rule policy in 1992had implanted conflictbetween the Kuki- Naga,Meetei- Meetei Pangal, Kuki-Paite, Hmar-Dimasha andbetween the hill and valley.In such critical juncture therich and powerful people hasnever respected themovements of the peoplethereby thinking solely informing government andmisusing it and thus becomesa hurdle in the society, Sanjoyadded.He further said that severalunwanted instances occurredwhen 18 people were martyredin the movement protestingagainst the BangkokDeclaration signed betweenIndian government andNSCN- IM in 2001 because ofthe three dangerous words‘without territorial limit’.

He questioned the agendabehind the signing of theFramework Agreementbetween the GOI and NSCN-IM as the details of theagreement were never madepublic. Decrying the negligence ofthe Manipur government hesaid that they never focus onresolv ing such issues butwere interested in their gameof political leadership. He fur ther said that thegovernment also d idn’tconsidered to make a law forthe influx of illegal immigrantsand migrants. He stressed that adding moreproblems multinationalcorporations has targeted totake out the natural resourcesfrom the North East includingManipur and appealed the peopleto stand firmed against it.The observance was attendedby President of Poirei LeimarolMeira Paibi Apunba ManipurL.
