Desert Weathering is Characterized By:

• a dominance of physical weathering

• minimal chemical weathering, consisting mainly of oxidation of mafic minerals

• formation of desert varnish:desert varnish: a weathering veneer formed of a mixture of clays and smaller amounts of iron and manganese oxides.
