Abstract:

Bibliometric paper can be written before writing a literature review article and at the introduction section of any research papers. Bibliometric is a powerful tool for quantitatively investigating scientific outputs. Bibliometric analysis helps to visualize the trends in existing literature and overview current state-of-the-art topics to help future research. The data for bibliometric paper retrieved from scientific databases such as Web of Science and Scopus which is freely available for institutions. In this webinar, you will get familiar with “Essential Steps to Write a Bibliometric Paper”.

Step 1: The definition

Research Visibility and Impact Center-(RVnIC) ©2019-2021 Dr. Nader Ale Ebrahim

A bibliometric study

• Statistically analysis patterns of publication within a specific research area or body of literature

• Measuring academic and organizational performance based on several indicators such as number of publications, number of citations, and collaboration networks

• Analyses the research productivity, top-cited publications, countries’ scholarly outputs, most frequent keywords and the trend of publications to quantitatively explore a specific research area

• Visualize the trends in existing literature and overview current state-of-the-art topics to help future research

Reasons for bibliometric studies

• Understanding of patterns• discovery of regularities, behavior

• Analysis of structures & dynamics• discovery of connections, relations, networks

• search for regularities - possible predictions

• Discovery of impacts, effects

• relation between entities & amounts of their various uses

• providing support for making of decisions, policies

Ten tips for improving a research paper quality1. Collaborate with excellent researchers2. Choose a good research team3. Focus on quality instead of quantity. 4. Use recent and relevant references.5. Avoid obvious errors. 6. Don’t forget story telling style7. Write clearly, concisely and smartly.8. Read your paper several times.9. Target the top journals10. Follow patterns of well-written papers in your field

Research Visibility and Impact Center-(RVnIC) ©2019-2021 Dr. Nader Ale Ebrahim 44

Steps to organizing your manuscript1. Prepare the figures and tables.

2. Write the Methods.

3. Write up the Results.

4. Write the Discussion. Finalize the Results and Discussion before writing the introduction. This is because, if the discussion is insufficient, how can you objectively demonstrate the scientific significance of your work in the introduction?

5. Write a clear Conclusion.

6. Write a compelling introduction.

7. Write the Abstract.

8. Compose a concise and descriptive Title.

9. Select Keywords for indexing.

10. Write the Acknowledgements.

11. Write up the References.
