Mark 1.15

Processional Hymn:

#572 Let there be light

Processional Hymn:

#572 Let there be light

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with you all.And also with you.

Almighty God, to you all hearts are open, all desires known, and from you no secrets are hidden.

Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love you, and worthily magnify your holy name; through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Let us pray:God of love and grace, as you welcome us here this day, we also welcome you to be within and among us.

Breathe your love and grace into our very being, that we may look upon one another with the same equanimity that you show to all creation.

Open our hearts, that we may know the truth of your presence and the glory of your love. Amen. (From The Abingdon Worship Annual 2015 Edition, edited by Mary J. Scifres and B. J. Beu. Copyright ©2014 by Abingdon Press. Used by permission.)

Proclamation of the Word:

First Reading: Jonah 3:1-5, 10

Psalm 62:5-12

For God alone my soul in silence waits; *truly, my hope is in God.God alone is my rock and my salvation, *my stronghold, so that I shall not be shaken.

In God is my safety and my honour *my strong rock and my refuge.Put your trust in God always, O people, *pour out your hearts before the one who is your refuge.

Those of high degree are but a fleeting breath, *even those of low estate cannot be trusted. On the scales they are lighter than a breath, *all of them together.

Put no trust in extortion;in robbery take no empty pride; *though wealth increase, set not your heart upon it.

God has spoken once, twice have I heard it, *that power belongs to God.Steadfast love is yours, O Lord, *for you repay all according to their deeds.

Second Reading:1 Corinthians 7:29-31

Gradual Hymn:

# 432 Jesus calls us! O’er the tumult

The Lord be with you.And also with you.

The Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to MarkGlory to you, Lord Jesus Christ.(Mk 1:14-20)

The Gospel of Christ.Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

Sermon: Rev. Chris Brouillard-Coyle

Let us confess the faith of our baptism as we say,

I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, God`s only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.

He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.

He descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

Let us pray….

Confession & AbsolutionChrist died to sin once for all, and now he lives to God. Let us renew our resolve to have done with all that is evil and confess our sins in penitence and faith. (

Forgive us, O God, for the harm we have caused others, for the times we have turned away from you, for the ways we have rejected your love and mercy.

Forty minutes, forty days, or even forty years would not be sufficient to make up for all the sins and errors of humankind. But your grace is sufficient for us.

Your presence is all we need, each and every moment of our lives. Forgive us, O God, and invite us to begin again. Call us to follow you, and we will leave our nets behind.

Invite us to begin again, and we will accept your loving offer, and become a new creation, called and reclaimed in the Spirit of your love. Amen.

The kingdom of God has come near. God’s realm is in our very midst. Believe in this good news: In the name of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven and reclaimed by God. Amen. God calls us to peace. In God’s justice is our peace.

Christ calls us to be God’s people: In Christ is our peace.

The peace of the Lord be always with you.And also with you.

Let us share a sign of that peace.

Offertory Hymn:

#575 Let streams of living justice

Prayer over the Gifts:

Bless these gifts, O God, that those who most need to know your love, may receive it through these gifts and the ministries they support. Amen. (From The Abingdon Worship Annual 2015 Edition, edited by Mary J. Scifres and B. J. Beu. Copyright ©2014 by Abingdon Press. Used by permission.)

The Lord be with you.And also with you.

Lift up your hearts. We life them to the Lord.

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.It is right to give our thanks and praise.

It is indeed right that we should praise you, gracious God, for your created all things. You formed us in your own image: male and female you created us.

When we turned away from you in sin, you did not cease to care for us, but opened a path of salvation for all people.

You made a covenant with Israel, and through your servants Abraham and Sarah gave the promise of a blessing to all nations.

Through Moses you led your people from bondage into freedom;Through the prophets you renewed your promise of salvation.

Therefore, with them, and with all your saints who have served you in every age, we give thanks and raise our voices to proclaim the glory of your name.

Holy, holy, holy LordGod of power, God of mightHeaven and earth are full of your glory.Hosanna in the highest.

Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.Hosanna in the highest, hosanna in the highest.

Holy God, source of life and goodness, all creation rightly gives you praise. In the fullness of time, you sent your Son Jesus Christ, to share our human nature, to live and die as one of us, to reconcile us to you, the God and Father or all.

Jesus healed the sick and ate and drank with outcasts and sinners; he opened the eyes of the blind and proclaimed the good news of your kingdom to the poor and to those in need.In all things he fulfilled your gracious will.

On the night he freely gave himself to death, our Lord Jesus Christ took bread, and when he had given thanks to you, he broke it, and gave it to his disciples, and said, “Take, eat: this is my body which is given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me.”

After supper he took the cup of wine; and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, and said, “Drink this, all of you: this is my blood of the new covenant, which is shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Whenever you drink it, do this for the remembrance of me.”

Gracious God, his perfect sacrifice destroys the power of sin and death; by raising him to life you give us life for evermore.

Therefore we proclaim the mystery of faith.

Christ has died.Christ is risen.Christ will come again.

Recalling his death, proclaiming his resurrection , and looking for his coming again in glory, we offer you, Father, this bread and this cup.

Send your Holy Spirit upon us and upon these gifts, that all who eat and drink at this table may be one body and one holy people, a living sacrifice in Jesus Christ, our Lord.

Through Christ, with Christ, and in Christ, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory is yours, almighty Father, now and for ever.

Amen.

And now, as our Saviour Christ has taught us, we are bold to say,

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven.

Give us today our daily bread.Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.

Save us from the time of trial, and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now and for ever. Amen.

We break the bread of life, and that life is the light of the world.God here among us,light in the midst of us,bring us to light and life.

These are the gifts of God, for the people of God.

Thanks be to God.

Communion Hymn:

#585 Lord, whose love in humble service

Prayer after Communion:Gracious God, our hands have taken holy things; our lives have been nourished by the body of your Son.

May we who have eaten at this holy table be strengthened for service in your world. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ the Lord. Amen.

Glory to God, whose power, working in us, can do infinitely more than we can ask or imagine. Glory to God from generation to generation, in the Church and in Christ Jesus, for ever and ever. Amen.

Do justice, love kindness and walk humbly with your God and the blessing of God: Creator, Redeemer, and Life-Giving Spirit remain with you and all those you love, now and always. Amen.
