National vision Strengthen the development of the National Statistical System to
attain the international Standard while maintaining coherence with the Party and the Government’s polices to assure good national statistics.
Ensure the comprehensive, timely, transparent and reliable supply of good quality socio-economic and environment statistics to meet the increasing demand from the party, government and other statistics users; to serve as an indication for monitoring, evaluation and formulation of socio-economic development; and for monitoring progress of Sustainable Development goals (SDGs) by 2030 and graduation from Least Developed Country (LDC) status by 2020.

National vision The people of the Lao PDR value their biodiversity resources
in terms of the immediate and long term environmental , and poverty alleviating benefits these resources provide, not only to themselves, but to the global community. These benefit are sustained through protection against abuse , by wise use , and by ensuring that the benefits are shared equitably.

Background Lao PRD endorse its Raw on Statistic and its implementation
Decree in 30/6/2010 as well as the National Statistical development Strategy 2010-2020 in 30/6/2010
Environmental statistics are not systematically collected and indicators is not officially adopted; during the past decade, although some official development assistant projects have assisted Lao PRD in developing the state of environment;
After the establishment of Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, the first state of Natural Resources and Environment report was developed in 2013 in order for preparation of long-term vision and strategy for Natural Resources and environmental Sector.

We planed to integrated NSDS to Sector Strategy and all Sectors have to create their 5 year action plan on implementation.

There are 4 category of indicators:
1. Economic Statistical: 19 sectors and 409 indicators (National 210; Sector: 357; Local: 203)
2. Social-traditional Statistical: 12 sectors and 437 indicators (National 111; Sector: 204; Local: 122)
3. Natural Resources and Environmental Statistical 7 sectors and 90 indicators (National 16; Sector: 53; Local: 21)
4. Reliability Statistical 4 sectors and 80 indicators (National 29; Sector: 28; Local: 23)
Policy priorities and policy
tools Government of Lao PDR has indicated the Directions of 8th NSEDP in
Sustainable Development should be : Ensure sustainable development with harmonization among the economic development and socio-cultural development and environmental protection; be prepared to handle natural disaster in timely manner; ensure integrated rural development has a strong link poverty reduction;
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment’s long-term direction will focus upon 5 key themes : Sustainable Management and Planning of the use of Natural Resources and
Environment,
Sustainable Environment Planning for Cities and Rural Development,
Strengthening Capacity of Lao PDR on Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation,
Maintaining and Enhancing Regional and International Integration, and
Building MONRE Institutional Capacity Effectively, Efficiently and Sustainably.

The Key roles of the National Statistical office:
- Official Statistics are data or figures from survey and administrative records thru the process of collection, integration, compilation, processing, analysis and interpretation in accordance with statistical science that are certified by the national statistics system;
- Sectoral statistics are those data or figures from survey and administrative records thru the process of collection, collation, integration, compilation, procession, analysis and interpretation in accordance with statistical science that are certified by the line ministry, ministry-equivalent agency , institute according to their specific needs;
- Statistics report is a way of colleting data or figures through regular reporting system of state authorities, economic units and other authorities on economic, socio, environment and natural resources and security statistics;
